Focused attention on school library programs resulted in 2008 legislation – supplemental $4M for SL programs – short-term goal achieved

Washington state reworked funding distribution formulas – WLMA and others worked to make sure school library programs included in funding formula – info tech/literacy skills – linchpin – integration across content area core curriculum - passed (in part) in 2010

SB 5392 

Senate Chair Education Committee reintroduced – technology as core state learning goal – librarians (WLMA), Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE), and educational technology department at state level teamed up to help reword the bill – focus on instructional technology integration – passed 2011


School Library Information and Technology (LIT) Framework - Programs for 21st Century Learning

Teacher-librarian and library program job description – used as an organizational framework for all library work (January 2009)

TL Tech Peer Coaching

Recommendation that every school librarian should participate and gain Technology Peer Coaching Certification – WLMA has sponsored 14 scholarships – so far, 5 or 6 cohorts exclusively for teacher librarians
